HWC Minister Benoit Bouchard outlines actions being taken to encourage identification and protection of persons with sensitivities.

Bouchard outlines various measures the federal health department was taking to encourage the identification and protection of Canadians with environmental sensitivities. He describes the distribution of "Issues." He also discusses research tasked to the University of Toronto?s Gage Research, describing the task as developing a protocol to diagnose "this condition." Bouchard seemed unaware, as was Irv Broder at Gage, that sensitivities are not "a condition" for which there can be a marker, but symptoms that can be caused by what HWC Chronic Disease Epidemiologist John Davies called "a compendium of disorders." Gage Research did not understand that the fact that persons with sensitivities show no tendency towards a mean was a further confirmation of what decades of science had already shown, that the patient group is not homogeneous. This research helped to defend abusers, invisibilized history, even though Gage, UofT and HWC knew or ought to have known that the idea of finding a marker was, in a word, goofy. While the local branch of CMHA felt the concern should be acted on, the national and Ontario divisions of CMHA have invisibilized the concern, helping to plough under any persons whose psych problems are caused or exacerbated by sensitivities. The CPA has promoted the abuse of persons with sensitivities more aggressively.
