Brown tries to convince other consumers that it is not in their interests to have their long, mainstream existence invisibilized behind consideration of the ideas of so-called “doctors of environmental medicine.”

The demedicalization of disability was a huge movement in the 20th Century. Unfortunately, doctors of environmental medicine have done all they can to subsume the history, experience and rights of persons with sensitivities behind a debate about their revisionist history, flaky ideas and unethical practices. Patients who desperately need letters from supportive physicians have been left at the mercy of crackpots whose ideas often sabotage the interests of persons with sensitivities in health care and in the broader community.
