Marilou McPhedran, CPSO Task Force on Sexual Abuse of Patients.; 1991.
At the time, I knew of an instance where a physician was sexually abusing a patient, but confidentiality considerations prevented my discussing it. I suspect there are abuses whenever people with power deal with large numbers of people who are isolated and desperate. McPhedran did not include the abuse of persons with sensitivities by physicians in her report, but she did refer the concern to the CPSO's Deputy Registrar, a Dr. Carlisle, who did not "protect the public and guide the profession."
